On the rare occasion that we get a call requesting a completely custom concept from a couple, our excitement level peaks. When your consultation feels more like 2 friends being reunited to plan the most epic celebration. You know it’s already been written in the stars.
Our bride, Giselle, came to us with her venue booked and her color story decided on and was content to leave the rest to us with one caveat. Her fiancé, Jeryn, had high hopes of his enthusiasm for the Star Wars saga to be incorporated in their wedding somehow. Needless to say, Giselle wasn’t quite on board, and full disclosure: I’ve maybe seen one Star Wars movie but if you didn’t know, I love a design challenge! I asked for 24 hours to come up with an idea to bring their dream celebration to life and I was so grateful for that time to get in my own head.
I began visualizing rose-powder pink and gold constellations and crescent moons. At the time there was not one Pinterest image to represent someone else’s interpretation of this concept, the challenge being that our client needs to trust our drawings, abstract images, and vocabulary to convey these ideas, rather than the easy to digest visuals we usually lead with. Celestial details would allow us to tell the story, without abiding by a theme or literal representation of Star Wars.
We tied in the decor details, floral design and silhouettes with the wardrobe styling to add meaningful touches throughout. I worked with Giselle to find the perfect dress to suit the overall look because let’s face it, she would look like a million bucks if we dressed her in a trash bag, I wanted to see her in something unexpected. Then imagine my delight when she asked me to curate the jewelry gifts for her and her bridesmaids to wear *happy dance*! We could maintain the warmth and romance of a wedding while adding touches of Star Wars lingo and intergalactic inspired textures and tones to achieve this one of a kind wedding for the new Mr. & Mrs. Mays.
#MaysThe4th // Wedding Day
Feast your eyes on the beauty of Giselle and Jeryn’s wedding day and all the thoughtful Star Wars inspired details as photographed by Brandi Toole with videography by Rimas Films. So The Mays said “I Do” on May the Fourth (aren’t we punny?) in Boca Raton, FL as planned and styled by Pink Wasabi and our fantastic team of collaborators, as you will see, the force was 100% with us.
Set the Tone // Custom Stationery by On Paper:
This design inspired so many other elements that we carried it throughout to keep the look from being too busy or inconsistent. On Paper definitely knocked this suite out of the park! We all got a kick out of the flood of IG stories of wedding guests receiving their invitations with enthusiasm on account of being invited and all the design elements and creative wordplay throughout. Spaceships soring through the pink clouds, silhouettes of Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, topped off lots of love from Yoda, with a touch of Baby Yoda shade (comment when you see it). This is why I love stationery so much, they set the tone for us to create all the beauty you’re about to scroll through.

They just wanna dance.
Honestly, we have so many amazing photos and videos from this reception it’s unreal! I love nothing more than seeing people loving each other while dancing the night away. I’ll definitely start sharing some of this joy on our Instagram and you can see what we already shared via IG highlights.
I’m so thrilled to share this gorgeous wedding with you. This couple and their families were so lovely to work with that I’m so proud of their day being featured in the recent issue of Modern Luxury Weddings.
