Bridesmaids (Not the Movie… Hopefully)

Don’t choose an “Annie” or a “Helen” without a thorough heart to heart first
Criteria for Choosing Your Bride’s Squad
  1. Choose the ladies you can rely on for anything and everything! The besties you go to through life’s ups and downs. It’s usually somewhat expensive and time consuming to be a bridesmaid so make sure the girls you choose truly love you and won’t resent being a part of the process. If you have a bestie who’s life is in peril, your wedding could coincide with or trigger an impending meltdown a la, “Annie” at “Lillian’s” Parisian Bridal Shower in the movie Bridesmaids.
  2. Keep in mind that even though you’ve chosen them and it is an honor, it doesn’t mean they are financially equipped to commit to the responsibilities of being a bridesmaid. In some instances, you may have a friend that would love nothing more than to NOT participate in your wedding, and most times it’s nothing personal, so just continue to love and respect your friend’s that are honest with you.
  3. Don’t choose your sibling to be your Maid or Matron of Honor unless your sibling is also your best friend through and through. Often times, siblings want the title without the responsibilities associated with them. This is a quick and easy way to cheat yourself out of a great wedding experience because you will have to rely a lot on yourself OR expect your other bridesmaids to do more work than they anticipated.
  4. To Elaborate on the importance of choosing a solid MOH, she will be the point person for you on your wedding day making sure everything is going smoothly. She will allow you to give up your phone and manage the day along with your coordinator so you don’t have to worry about a thing. She will be the point person for your family and anyone that has questions and concerns that day.

If you choose not to take these things into consideration you maybe be regretting it, not only on your wedding day but after every event of your wedding. Trust me on this one and avoid being a cautionary tail! If you think of anything else to add, please let your thoughts in the comments below.
