As part of my journey to step out of my comfort zone this year and help people to understand my roles as a Wedding Planner AND Wedding Stylist. In addition to that, I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about planning weddings, elopements and everything in-between. I started a group for Brides on Facebook as an extension of the Pink Wasabi business page. Aside from making myself slightly uncomfortable, my intent is to help couples, brides in particular, to frolic through the wedding planning process even if you haven’t booked us for your big day.
I’ve gathered a collection of talented industry professionals to moderate the group and offer advice, tips and knowledge regarding weddings and the events leading up to the big day. I’ve been a part of a few different Facebook groups observing active conversations between brides and between brides and vendors and both formats seem like underwhelming echo chambers of solicitation and misguided information. I wanted to create a safe space where brides could ask their questions and get educated and thoughtful answers.
We currently have:
- Myself and one of my coordinators representing for the planners and stylists.
- Two of my wedding photographers who have two distinct styles.
- An entertainment company and audio visual company
- Two makeup artists and one hairstylist
- My superstar florist (if you didn’t know already, I’m kind of obsessed with her)
What I’ve found while taking a look at the conversations between brides in other groups was the crazy amount of misinformation and ridiculous ideas being thrown around about everything having to with weddings and elopements. The other thing I’ve found in the groups with couples and vendors are vendors having a marketing and solicitation free-for-all, which is also not productive.
